Damon Braces

At Bishops Stortford Orthodontics, we are pleased to offer our patients a modern, innovative and effective alternative to traditional braces. Damon braces are self-ligating braces which provide a more comfortable - and often speedier - treatment experience.

How do Damon braces work?

Typically with traditional metal braces, small elastic bands or stainless steel wires are “tied in” to aid guided movement of the teeth. Damon braces instead have a built-in sliding function that holds the wire, allowing it to move more freely to straighten your teeth. This means we can use high-grade, low force wire to achieve smoother tooth movement, providing greater comfort and quicker results.

At Bishops Stortford Orthodontics, we offer two types of the Damon brace system - Damon Q2, with silver brackets, and Damon Clear 2, with clear brackets - these blend into the teeth and are great for patients who would like to have a more discreet orthodontic treatment option.

What are the benefits of Damon braces?

Damon braces are a great option for adults, teenagers and children as they:

  • Offer a more comfortable braces option
  • Require fewer appointments as teeth move faster
  • Cause less friction, thus less discomfort
  • Have no need for elastic bands
  • Clear option means brackets blend in with the colour of your teeth
